i know what you may be thinking: this is going to be some cynical blog about how depressing wedding season is because she's single and has no potential boyfriend and wedding season is expensive cuz of all the travel and gifts you have to buy and everyone at Grace is getting married.
well... most of that is true....
But that's not what this post is about.
I LOVE looking at wedding photos. Professional or unprofessional i love them ALL. seriously i have friends who could sit with me (or i could sit by myself) and we look at photos for hours. yup i said it. Hours. I think part of it is the the joy that is captured in them. By the couple, family, wedding party, attendees... they are all so excited and full of hope and promise at the union of the man and woman (and yup i clarified the gender on purpose). I think along with the joy is shown the love that all these people have: the love the couple has for each other and the people that are in attendance. And everyone else loves the couple dearly, that's why they came to the wedding. There's just something magical about them. The reason why this is on my mind today is because last night i got to sit in on Adam and Kristen's community group. The people there were such a mish mash of personalities and it was really interesting to just sit and observe. Well I was talking with Kristen today about the people in her group just to try and get a background if these people are going to be around all summer (at church and their community group meets here at their house). She was telling me that the group leader(s) recently started their own photography business. all self taught and she recommended i check out their website and blog. well of course since i love wedding photos i was NOT about to pass that up. So i did... Check it out oh my word their pictures are beautiful!! Not even just the wedding photos but all of them. stunning!
And while writing all of this my mind started running (of course. when does it not run at lightning speed?). All this wedding talk reminded me of a certain picture that Christians use of the church (and by the church i mean all believers). It is often said, even in the Scriptures that Jesus is the bridegroom and we the church are His bride. He rejoices over us and loves us so deeply. He waits expectantly for us to consecrate our lives to Him like he so desperately wants to do for us. The joy and love that are captured in wedding photos is so infestismally smaller than the love our Bridegroom has for us. He takes such joy in us that we don't even know what joy is when we compare what we know of joy to what He has. It's incredible really.
And thus.... I just found more joy in weddings than I ever thought possible...
